Textile composition lies at the heart of Signe Emdal’s practice. With a background in textile design and craftsmanship, she explores the expressive possibilities of vowen structures through techniques she has developed herself. Emdal’s works investigate the meeting between material and place, responding to light, history, architecture or landscape, often created through residencies around the world.
Signe Emdal is a visual artist and textile artisan based in Copenhagen. She holds a Masters degree in Textile design from Designskolen Kolding and has exhibited widely in both solo and group exhibitions. She received the “Best Contemporary Artwork” award at PAD London in 2022 and is currently working on a solo exhibition at Maison Louis Carré in France. With long-standing ties to Northern Jutland, Emdal continues to revisit the region for inspiration and to engage with its creative community.
