In her practice, Nathalie Cohn questions the evolution of our society with the process of ever-increasing digitisation, where humankind continues to alienate themselves from physical presence and tactility. In an attempt to counteract the situation, Cohn seeks to reconnect with the tactile and physicality of her existence through her work. Cohn’s work is a conversation between the artist’s body and mind together with the clay and glazes, creating abstract and organic sculptural pieces, pushing the viewers perception of size, balance and depth of the material.
Based in the heart of Copenhagen, Cohn explores themes of human existence and awareness of surroundings — those obvious to the eye but also invisible phenomena which forms us as human beings. Nathalie Cohn holds a BA from the Royal Danish Academy of Art on Bornholm, as well as an MA (2023) from the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen. Her work has been exhibited in Denmark and abroad, recently at the 5th Siegburger Keramikpreis in Siegburg, Germany.
