Shelmerdine
“Shelmerdine is the door to liberation from old structures – he is symbolic freedom”. So writes the artist Signe Emdal about her work, which draws parallels to the character traits of Shelmerdine in Virginia Woolf’s novel Orlando, who is boldly courageous as well as strange and subtle.
Woven by dirty curls and clean curls in divine combination, natural wool and that manipulated by humans, Shelmerdine invites many paths of contemplation.
